St. Lucia and "lussekattar"

Oh yeah, baking "lussekattar" with Marlon, Gerardo and Kierstin. December 13th is St.Lucia day, and of course we had to keep the tradition even though we're not in Norway. I prepared the dough and the kids made the buns. (Funfact: Saint Lucia is also an Island in the Caribbean, named after St.Lucia)

Robert and Gerardo, proud of the job!

Marlon has a project!

And Kierstin also used her imagination. I don't know what Robert is doing here...

Results: Great! The tradition requires us to go around and hand out "lussekattar" to neighbors. While Kierstin and Gerardo picked up Maria, we went towards the colmado, giving away carrot cake and "lussekattar" to the watchimen along the road, and to the colmado people. They were a bit surprised, and very happy.
Maria showed up with a tiny dog-thingy in her purse! I wasn't too fond of Chihuahuas before, but now I'm definitely a  supporter, at least of this one, called Luna! She is only 3 months, and pretty safe in Marlons hands.

Luna was extremely energetic. Kierstin loved her too...

We all ended up on the floor, close to Luna (pretty happy I wiped the floor this weekend). Gerardo soon renamed her Lula, and talked about bringing her back to Guatemala. I think he was serious, because he had his ice cream-look on. But Maria was not interested in the offer!

Robert suddenly wanted to have a Chihuahua instead of a Rottweiler. We volunteered to dog sit whenever!

Maria and Luna departing, with carrot cake in one hand and dog food in the other. We tried stuffing buns and cake on everybody to bring home, but we still have a load in the freezer, if anybody is interested!
